I like how you lie awake

And dream of what you shoudl say. And I find your leftover fragments in the air sometimes, or on bits of paper, abandoned love notes: Dear (and you leave out my name)
Last night I
Or I wish I could hear you
Or What do you mean
Hear me say what? Something I mutter because I'm dreaming? And we are dreaming, both of us. Even when I stay awake at the desk and you pretend to be asleep and watch me through half-closed eyelids. Even then.

When you are asleep I whisper
Which is the difference between us
I say everything, like I'd like to climb that tree with you. You say oh. And then you look at the ceiling (or the sky if that's the only ceiling) and ask it to tell you the answer.
Yesterday I told you I didn't like Times New Roman.
And the day before that, that Heinlein was a moron.
So - yes - I looked in your black eyes:
I saw no light (only darkness stretching space):

Heaven in your rocket ship
Gonna get there pretty quick
Been too long in sillouhette
O Susanna

If I whisper what do you mean will you know what I'm asking?

I like how you lie awake
As if I could escape you.
