After attending Carl and Denali’s wedding last weekend up at Cushing Mountain Theater, wishing to commit myself (I have often noticed this strange power of even casual observations, e.g. “I’m thinking of travelling to South America”) I declared that I would bicycle up to the summit on the following weekend. My fancy plasticized bicycle map of Marin County (which turned out to be severely deficient in the article of useful routefinding on several occasions) gives a distance of 33 miles for the loop around Mt. Tamalpais shown below. My route, which involved getting lost in Mill Valley, turned out a bit longer, but in any case I was not prepared for just how hilly this ride is. Definitely should have brought more than two cliff bars and no gatorade. But so beautiful, especially Ridgecrest and Alpine Dam.
