Our neighbor dropped off a whole bag of Bartlett pears the other day. In an effort to do more than just eat them, I came up with a fun sauce:
- Take two pears, slice them thinly.
- Melt about two tablespoons of butter in a saucepan.
- Sautee the pears on medium-low heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir and flip frequently.
- Add about a teaspoon of cinnamon, and if the pears aren’t particularly sweet, about a teaspoon of honey.
- Add a half a cup of dark rum and reduce for no more than a minute.
This sauce works really well with a nice pork chop. Serve the pork chop with couscous and the pear slices, and pour the sauce over the meat.
