today i heard news of a famous landmark being destroyed. there has been much news in recent days about another much bigger, more famous landmark being destroyed, but it holds much less meaning and importance to me than the one that was lost today. i had never been to the world trade center, i dont beleive i would have been able to pick it out of a gigantic police line-up. “yes officer, thats the one there.” “oh, thats the sears tower? and its in chicago? my mistake” however, i had been to this landmark on several occasions. i remember it well. from its confusing parking lot, which never seemed to have enough parking spaces, to its vast array of obscure beers and wines, the burlingame grocery will always stick in my memory, if nothing more than a navigational landmark on the way to xxx Primrose, a place of fond memories.

burlingame grocery burned down, along with chez jose (i didnt even know that place existed) in the wee hours of this morning. investigation pending, owners plan to rebuild. i am sad. no word on any link to Osamma Bin Laden. no one was hurt.
