The Site:

Sullen Idiot Press is a small media noncooperative whose stated purpose is to promote the intellectual property of its founder and sole member, Dan Meliza. Its only web presense, at present, is this WikiWikiWeb, which began as an experiment in information management, knowledge space mapping, and the persistence of memory. At the conclusion of these investigations the site spontaneously reorganized itself into a more-or-less chronological series of entries. Rumor has it that the old web of links is still active, and that unrecognizable bits of content still lurk in its depths.

The Man:

My name is Daniel Meliza. I live in Berkeley, California where I’m a graduate student in neuroscience. I’m studying how visual perception works. Along with Andro Hsu I edit The Colossus, a magazine about science, art, and philosophy. I play the bassoon, mostly for love but sometimes for money. I post things here for all kinds of reasons, but mostly to share with friends. If you know me from somewhere and Googled me, don’t feel guilty. There’s nothing really very private here. But if you find yourself reading any of the older stuff, do keep in mind that like you, I’ve changed a lot. I don’t have the hubris or the patience to expurgate my life of its more difficult passages. That said, welcome!
