Mike and I talked at dinner about James Joyce and Finnegan’s Wake, which he called “a scholar’s book” and “unreadable”.

The next question is whether there is such a thing as a scholar’s book, a book so rich in allusion, syntax, and form that it would occupy a thousand literary critics and their grandchildren until the final stroke of time. The other amusing thing would be if really didn’t say anything of consequence. A convenient way of getting rid of critics.

Now I am going to a party. Elena may be there, but probably not Vivian.

nyquil:

went to Pizza Oasis with Jason and D, which consisted of much feta and geeky discussions. I like the feta, but I recently have begun to tire much faster of discussions over the merits of BIND and the joys of .NET. Either I commented on this fact, or D did, more likely her because she hates it more than me. Jason’s response is:

pause
blank stare
"so...did you watch the XFL......or whatever..."

much laughter.

*_D didn't actually say anything. Just stared blankly and thought about kicking people under the table to change to topic._
