installed freebsd yesterday. ports is about the slickest thing. only complaint so far is, i added a package using pkg_add, and it downloaded package versions of a whole bunch of libraries i had installed via ports. kinda redundant, seems it should know that at stuff. oh well, everything else is pretty cool so far.
is there a difference between passing out and fainting? everything ive read so far seems to say theyre the same, but ive heard several people say they are different.
so i installed a fairly recent version of mozilla (before i figured out how to update ports properly) and found it to be nice, but the UI is very very very sluggish. so i figured i’d try one of the many advertised ‘fast, light’ web browsers using mozillas rendering engine. so i make install in ports, and it downloads the tar.gz and the patch, and decides it needs mozilla too (this is after i updated ports). i compiled mozilla overnight the first time, so i had no idea how long it took. mozilla has been compiling at least 6 hours today, and fter it finishes that, its going to download and install whatever gnome libs this thing requires, followed by the actual web browser. i sure hope its ‘lighter and faster’ than the install procedure (granted, i only had to type one command, that is darn cool).
